Google integrates Gemini directly into the Chrome browser

The early access version is currently restricted to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers using Beta, Dev, or Canary builds of Chrome. When prompted, the tool processes visible text, such as summarizing articles or highlighting specific gaming news like Nintendo’s Switch Online updates or upcoming film adaptations.

Limitations remain clear during daily use. The assistant only interprets what is currently rendered on the screen; for instance, hidden content like expanded comment threads requires manual interaction before the AI can analyze them. While the interface follows users across tabs, it maintains a single-page focus at any given time. For those preferring vocal interaction, the Live feature remains accessible via the dialogue box, signaling Google’s intent to move beyond static chatbots toward a more fluid, context-aware web assistant.
