Benja’s approach to his new EP, Time Has Nothing To Do With What You Choose…, rejects the usual hidden implementation of generative software. While the rest of the project falters compared to his 2024 work Ten Total, the opener succeeds by grounding the production in a frantic jungle beat and his own human vocal performance. The choir of backup vocalists, often the most glaring tell in AI-generated compositions, is successfully camouflaged through rapid-fire editing and heavy processing.
Rather than masking the technology, Benja outlines a collaborative workflow involving producer Patrick Holder and Ableton software. The process involves feeding elements into Suno, editing the results externally, and cycling them back through the generator. By leaning into the uncanny aesthetic of modern pop, Benja has created a track that challenges the assumption that AI-assisted music is inherently devoid of character.
