The commission recently proposed a $25,000 fine against eight entities, including those responsible for Skyrover drones and Xtra cameras. Beyond financial penalties, the regulator is now seeking to block these companies from importing, marketing, or selling existing inventory. This shift effectively weaponizes the FCC’s retroactive powers, potentially forcing major retailers to purge products from their shelves, including devices that mirror DJI technology like the Osmo Pocket 3.

Should the proposal move forward, companies like Xtra may face significant losses on warehouse stock currently held by retailers such as Amazon. While the ban would not reach devices already in the hands of consumers, the move signals a tightening grip on how the agency manages hardware imports post-certification. The FCC has opened a 30-day public comment period, marking the final administrative step before these authorizations are officially rescinded.
