D’Amaro, a 28-year veteran of the organization, currently serves as chairman of Disney Experiences. Since 2020, he has managed a sprawling portfolio including 12 theme parks, 57 resorts, the company’s cruise line, and the Imagineering unit. His recent work also encompasses high-profile digital strategy, such as the partnership with Epic Games to integrate Disney intellectual property into Fortnite.
As he prepares to take the reins, D’Amaro faces the task of guiding the company through the launch of its standalone ESPN streaming service and integrating generative AI tools developed through a deal with OpenAI. These tools are expected to allow users to animate over 250 Disney characters within the Disney Plus ecosystem. Alongside this leadership transition, Dana Walden will step into the roles of president and chief creative officer, rounding out the new executive team.
