CaixaBank Overhauls Wealth Division Structure

Juan Llamas, a veteran with two decades of tenure at the firm, steps into the role of head of CaixaBank Wealth Management. He succeeds Belén Martín, who shifts to a managing director position within the bank’s international corporate and investment banking division. Llamas will report to Jordi Mondéjar, who oversees retail, private, and business banking. Under this new configuration, CaixaBank Asset Management will report directly to Mondéjar, a move intended to bolster the firm’s cross-functional capabilities. Laura Comas also assumes a new mandate as a director of CaixaBank Wealth Management Luxembourg, further filling the vacancy left by Martín.

The reorganization arrives as the bank navigates a period of rapid expansion and shifting market demands. By April, the wealth management division reported 193,000 clients, marking an 11% increase since the end of 2025. Assets under management reached the €200 billion threshold, reflecting a 7.7% growth rate in just a few months. These adjustments reflect a broader strategy to integrate investment capabilities more tightly as the bank responds to increased competition and the need for more sophisticated financial planning solutions.
