House Democrats Launch Probe Into Withheld Epstein Files

House Oversight Committee Democrats are opening a parallel investigation into the Department of Justice, alleging the agency is illegally withholding sensitive FBI interviews that implicate President Donald Trump in the sexual assault of a minor decades ago, in direct defiance of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

House Democrats Launch Probe Into Withheld Epstein Files

Ranking Member Robert Garcia announced the move Tuesday after reviewing unredacted evidence logs, which he claims reveal the DOJ is actively suppressing records detailing heinous crimes. The missing documents include over 50 pages of FBI interviews and notes concerning a woman who alleges she was introduced to Trump by Jeffrey Epstein in 1983 when she was 13. According to these records, the survivor stated Trump forced her into a sexual act before striking her, an encounter she escaped by biting him.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has come under intense scrutiny for her broad use of national security redactions to shield materials mandated for public release by December 19. Critics, including Rep. Ted Lieu, argue the selective transparency serves only to protect the president, noting that files exonerating him would likely have been made public long ago. While Trump maintains his innocence and continues to challenge previous civil liability rulings regarding sexual abuse, the growing pressure from lawmakers and survivors highlights a deepening confrontation over the full extent of Epstein’s criminal network and its political reach.
