Hisense 2026 lineup debuts Dolby Vision 2 HDR

Dolby has structured the new format into two distinct tiers: Dolby Vision 2 Max and a standard version. The Max tier, designated for high-end panels, introduces Authentic Motion smoothing and advanced ambient light adjustments that evolve the current Dolby Vision IQ framework. It also provides professional-grade controls for granular tone mapping, tailoring the viewing experience to the specific capabilities of premium displays.

Mainstream televisions will receive the base version of Dolby Vision 2, which retains core features like bidirectional and local tone mapping alongside an intensity slider. These tools remain backward compatible, functioning with existing Dolby Vision content. Implementation requires specific silicon, currently limited to the MediaTek Pentonic 800 SoC. Consequently, older hardware cannot be upgraded to the new standard, though these legacy sets will continue to display content by ignoring the supplemental metadata.
