Brian Baker, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, clarified that the family was not aboard the yacht during the incident. He maintained that the crew monitored a different radio frequency and only became aware of the Coast Guard’s marine assistance broadcast after the Wilderness Legacy had already initiated the rescue. Coast Guard officials noted that the skiff was not in immediate distress, leading to a broadcast request for aid rather than a formal emergency deployment.
