Starting today, the feature arrives on Pixel 6 handsets and all subsequent models. Google confirmed that owners of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8 will receive the update shortly, though specific timelines for these devices remain fluid. Users initiate the process through the standard share sheet; once active, bringing the hardware into close proximity completes the handshake and initiates the transfer of photos, videos, or contact cards.
While the current rollout is limited to select premium hardware, the company intends to expand this proximity-based sharing to a broader range of Android devices before the end of the year. Google has yet to publish a comprehensive list of compatible models, leaving the precise hardware requirements for the wider release currently undefined.
