The feature brings the Sonos experience closer to its Android counterpart, fulfilling a promise made by the company’s leadership last February. To activate it, users must manually toggle the setting within both the Sonos app preferences and their iOS system settings. Once enabled, the interface displays the active room or group alongside the current track title, automatically clearing itself 15 minutes after audio stops.
While the update extends support to Apple Watch and CarPlay, current functionality remains limited; users can view the stream, but actual playback controls are absent on those platforms. Sonos confirmed that development is ongoing, with engineers actively investigating ways to incorporate album art and resolve the missing remote features on wearable and automotive displays.
