Google launches Gemini student hub ahead of academic year

As the academic calendar approaches, Google is integrating a dedicated student hub into Gemini, transforming the AI interface into a centralized study assistant. This repository streamlines research by managing study notebooks, generating automated flashcards, and syncing critical assignment deadlines directly into a user's Google Calendar for improved academic organization.

The updated platform enhances study notebooks with support for complex visual data, including graphs and images. Beyond basic organization, the company is introducing Deep Research capabilities to Gemini Live. This feature allows students to request comprehensive reports and engage in verbal reviews of the findings. If a query requires significant processing time, the system permits users to lock their mobile devices, providing a notification once the report is complete.

Google is also expanding its mobile utility through Lens. By photographing worksheets, students can receive step-by-step explanations and conceptual coaching for challenging problems. To incentivize adoption, eligible students in the United States gain one year of Google AI Pro access, which includes 5TB of storage and Google Health Premium. International students receive the Google AI Plus subscription, featuring 400GB of storage and adjusted usage thresholds.
