Shelly enters security market with $50 subscription-free camera

The device captures 1080p video with a 110-degree horizontal field of view and includes integrated night vision. Users can stream live footage over Wi-Fi, save events directly to a local microSD card, or link the camera to other Shelly hardware to trigger automated responses, such as activating outdoor lighting when motion is detected. Because the unit lacks a battery, placement is strictly tied to proximity to a power source.

While the core hardware functions independently, the company offers an optional subscription service for those requiring cloud-based recording. This paid tier also unlocks advanced object detection, enabling the software to differentiate between people, pets, and vehicles. This allows for more granular alert customization compared to the base model. The camera will be sold in black or white through Shelly’s official store and authorized resellers.
