While the platform serves as a key environment for 1Password’s customer base, the association with Hansson has sparked calls for boycotts and internal dissent. This is not the first time Hansson’s public commentary has jeopardized business relationships. In 2023, Duke University Libraries severed ties with Basecamp, another of his ventures, citing the harms perpetuated by the leadership at 37signals.
