The shift marks another milestone in the browser's evolution, moving away from the six-week cadence that defined its development for over a decade. Engineering leads suggest that smaller, more frequent updates minimize potential disruptions and streamline the debugging process for developers. Despite the increased frequency, the team maintains that recent internal process improvements will preserve existing stability standards.
While the primary stable and beta channels adopt this faster pace, the company is keeping other segments unchanged. By reducing the scope of each individual release, Google intends to provide users with immediate access to modern web advancements without the weight of larger, more complex updates.
