Biden Administration Reportedly Delays Boeing Bomb Shipments to Israel

The Biden administration is reportedly withholding shipments of two types of Boeing-made precision bombs to pressure Israel, following the start of an offensive in Rafah. While the White House has not formally confirmed the delay, the move signals a potential shift in policy regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Biden Administration Reportedly Delays Boeing Bomb Shipments to Israel

Reports from Politico, Axios, and The Wall Street Journal suggest that Washington is stalling the transfer of Joint Direct Attack Munitions and Small Diameter Bombs. By choosing inaction over a formal denial, the administration appears to be sending a political message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. This development follows months of mounting pressure on the White House to leverage arms sales to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where the death toll has surpassed 34,700.

Advocacy groups and policy experts have termed the delay an overdue step, though many argue it should have occurred months ago. Sara Haghdoosti of Win Without War urged the administration to move beyond leaked reports and publicly solidify a policy conditioning weapons sales on compliance with international law. Meanwhile, the administration has also indefinitely postponed a formal report on whether Israel has violated humanitarian standards during the war. As the Israeli military pushes into Rafah—an area housing over a million displaced Palestinians—critics maintain that the White House must move from symbolic delays to concrete action to halt the offensive.
