Meta’s Muse app gains momentum faster than ChatGPT’s mobile debut

Apptopia’s analysis reveals that Muse secured 1.8 million downloads during its opening twelve days, outperforming the 1.3 million downloads ChatGPT recorded in a comparable period. The lead extends to user engagement, where Muse currently sees 642,000 daily active users in the U.S., significantly higher than the 231,000 users ChatGPT reached at the same stage. Even when isolating iOS data to account for ChatGPT’s initial exclusive release on Apple devices, Muse maintains a lead with 359,000 daily active users.

Meta’s strategy leverages its existing ecosystem to drive this growth. Data indicates that over 95% of Muse users are already active on Facebook, while 63% utilize Instagram. This deep integration, combined with potential future support within WhatsApp, mirrors the cross-promotion tactics that helped Threads reach 500 million users. While these figures remain third-party estimates and Meta has yet to disclose internal performance data, the early trajectory suggests Muse is positioned to become a dominant force in Meta’s portfolio.
