Executive Moves: Aberdeen, Ruffer and Suntera Shake Up Leadership

A wave of senior appointments across the wealth management sector signals a push for aggressive growth, with Aberdeen Investments, Ruffer, and Suntera securing new talent to navigate shifting institutional and ETF landscapes in the UK, Europe, and international markets.

Executive Moves: Aberdeen, Ruffer and Suntera Shake Up Leadership

Aberdeen Investments has tapped Caroline Hertrich to lead its UK and EMEA exchange-traded fund strategy. The newly created role aims to scale the firm’s ETF franchise, leveraging Hertrich’s 15-year background at Bloomberg, FTSE Russell, and BlackRock. Steven Dunn, global head of ETFs, noted that Hertrich will focus on expanding active strategies, an area where European client interest is currently outpacing market maturity.

London-based Ruffer has appointed Alexander Millar as head of institutional to spearhead the firm’s international outreach. Bringing over two decades of experience from Invesco, where he built institutional footprints in the Middle East and the UK, Millar will report to Jos North. The move comes as Ruffer, which manages £18 billion in assets, seeks to provide more resilient investment strategies for sophisticated asset owners navigating volatile markets.

Meanwhile, Suntera has hired Gemma Qin as global integration director. Based in the UK, Qin will oversee the firm’s acquisition strategy and operational synergy. Her background includes extensive work in post-merger integration at Big Four firms and global legal practices, positioning her to manage Suntera’s ongoing expansion across its international network.
