Most Democrats Favor Prosecuting Biden and Trump Officials Over Gaza

A survey released Monday by the Center for Strategic Politics, commissioned by Liberal Currents, reveals that 57% of 683 Democratic respondents support prosecuting members of both administrations for actions taken in Gaza. This sentiment remains consistent across the party spectrum, garnering support from 52% of self-described liberals and 48% of moderate or conservative Democrats. The inquiry reflects a broader trend of voter demand for accountability, as participants also expressed strong support for investigating Trump-era officials over military actions in Iran, extrajudicial strikes in the Pacific, and immigration enforcement policies.

This push for legal redress aligns with grassroots efforts to isolate figures like former Secretary of State Tony Blinken and former National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. Activists are currently pressuring institutions to sever ties with these officials, citing the $17.9 billion in military aid provided to Israel during the Biden administration. As the death toll in Gaza approaches 74,000, foreign policy has emerged as a decisive factor in primary elections. Candidates aligned with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) have faced significant electoral setbacks, signaling that a substantial portion of the Democratic base is prioritizing these issues over institutional party backing.
