Private Jets Become Strategic Assets for Expanding Family Offices

As family offices aggressively expand across borders to hedge geopolitical risks, private aviation has shifted from a luxury to a functional necessity. A new survey from Airbus Corporate Jets confirms that nearly every family office executive expects their reliance on business aircraft to surge over the next two years.

The research, which polled executives managing a collective $303 billion in assets, highlights a clear migration pattern. Nearly 70 percent of firms have established offices in new jurisdictions over the past five years, a trend driven by family members relocating globally and a desire to diversify investment exposure. With 96 percent of respondents already increasing their private jet usage, the industry is bracing for further growth, as 85 percent of executives anticipate a 50 to 100 percent rise in flight volume.

Chadi Saade, president of Airbus Corporate Jets, notes that private aviation is now central to maintaining a productive, connected workforce that spans multiple continents. Beyond sheer convenience, the data reveals that 89 percent of executives save between two and three hours per trip compared to commercial travel. Furthermore, 67 percent of trips target locations entirely unreachable by commercial airlines. For these firms, the primary value lies in the ability to conduct confidential business in flight, followed by schedule control, privacy, and speed.
