By moving the battery and primary computing components into an external puck, Meta has achieved a silhouette that approximates standard eyewear while housing high-resolution micro-OLED panels. This hardware configuration delivers a 5K Infinite Display, bolstered by Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos integration for cinematic audio.

Meta is positioning the glasses as the first IMAX Enhanced certified VR hardware, a designation intended to replicate the expansive aspect ratios and high-fidelity visuals of IMAX theaters. This entertainment focus extends to a partnership with Disney+, enabling 3D streaming of Marvel titles starting this November. The user experience goes beyond passive viewing, as the glasses can blend physical surroundings with digital environments through spatial audio and dynamic visual effects. Integrated Meta AI rounds out the functionality, allowing users to navigate content through voice commands or hand gestures. The hardware is scheduled for release next spring with a retail price of $1299.99.
