Google Pixel 11 delegates phone calls to Gemini

Instead of dialing a local business yourself, you simply instruct the Gemini app to initiate the request. The AI handles the entire process, from listening to hold music to speaking with a representative. Users retain oversight through a live transcript, allowing them to step into the conversation at any moment if the situation requires human intervention.

This functionality builds upon the earlier "Call for me" tool, which lacked the option to switch to live control. While companies like Meta are exploring similar automated calling technology—reportedly involving human intermediaries—Google is pushing for a fully autonomous AI approach. The feature is currently rolling out as an early preview for paid Gemini subscribers enrolled in the Phone by Google Public Beta on Pixel 11 devices within the United States.
