Fairphone Prepares Fairbuds 2 Launch with Modular Design

Beyond the modular architecture, the new earbuds introduce support for Sony’s high-resolution LDAC codec. This marks a significant departure from the original Fairbuds, which were limited to SBC and AAC codecs, similar to the hardware found in standard Apple AirPods. The inclusion of adaptive LDAC suggests a push for higher audio fidelity in the next generation.

The company confirmed a staggered rollout, starting with a European release at €119. A US launch will follow with a price point of $119. This pricing strategy represents a notable adjustment compared to the first-generation Fairbuds, which debuted at €149 in early 2024 before eventually dropping to $99.99 in the American market.
