This move follows a ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court that allowed the city’s lawsuit to proceed to the discovery phase.

Boulder County Commissioner Ashley Stolzmann maintains that the city will continue its pursuit, noting that local governments face rising costs from climate-related harm. Richard Wiles, president of the Center for Climate Integrity, described the industry's legal maneuvering as a desperate attempt to avoid accountability for a long-running deception campaign. Legal advocates maintain that communities must retain the right to seek justice in state courts when corporations knowingly cause local environmental damage.
