Instinct AI agents now infiltrate group chats to streamline planning

Instinct, the AI startup recently valued at $10 billion, is bringing its agent technology into group messaging. Starting this week, users can invite the AI into threads to coordinate travel, event logistics, or fantasy sports, even when other participants do not possess an Instinct account of their own.

The integration aims to resolve the friction inherent in group scheduling. By existing directly within the chat, the agent parses options and facilitates consensus without forcing participants to jump between disparate apps. Founder Noah Shinn emphasized that the group-based agent remains siloed from individual user accounts, ensuring that personal data is not inadvertently exposed.

Security protocols require the personal Instinct agent to request explicit permission before sharing information with the collective group instance. Additionally, if new members join an existing conversation, the system holds pending replies until privacy checks are cleared. This feature arrives as the competition for consumer AI dominance intensifies. Instinct is currently racing against rivals like Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Dots, both of which are aggressively expanding their collaborative capabilities. While currently limited to early access users, the company plans a wider release in the coming weeks.
