Glimpse accelerates industrial quality control with high-speed CT imaging

Recalls for defective components cost manufacturers billions, yet traditional CT scanning remains too slow for comprehensive production-line testing. Glimpse is tackling this bottleneck with a new software suite designed to boost CT throughput by up to 30 times, allowing for rapid defect detection in batteries, aerospace, and medical components.

The startup’s technology optimizes existing CT scanners by utilizing a proprietary image processing pipeline built on deep learning. By compressing data and handling heavy processing on edge computers located at the client's site, Glimpse enables images to load in seconds rather than hours. CEO Eric Moch notes that this shift allows manufacturers to move beyond statistical sampling to inspect tens of thousands of parts daily.

Expanding beyond battery production, the company is launching a product called Explore to serve industries including automotive and electronics. With over 100 existing clients—including Anker, Lucid, and the U.S. Navy—the firm is scaling its operations. For companies lacking internal hardware, Glimpse provides a Scan On Demand service at centers in the Boston area and an upcoming facility in the San Francisco Bay Area, lowering the barrier to entry for high-precision quality control.
