The device centers on a 1.34-inch always-on OLED touchscreen, running a proprietary Fitbit OS that supports Google Play app integration. Connectivity spans both Android and iOS platforms via Bluetooth, while the hardware suite includes GPS, an accelerometer, barometer, altimeter, and gyroscope. Health tracking is particularly robust, featuring optical sensors for heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, alongside electrical sensors for ECG captures. Users can track metrics ranging from cardiac load and skin temperature to complex menstrual cycle data.
Beyond standard fitness tracking, the Edge supports over 40 distinct exercises, including swimming and golf, with real-time coaching powered by Google Gemini. The tracker also acts as a health monitor, capable of detecting atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms. Powering these features is a user-replaceable lithium-ion battery rated for seven days of standard use, dropping to two days when the always-on display is active. The device carries an IP68 water resistance rating and will debut in four colorways: obsidian and matte black, olive and satin pyrite, canyon and champagne gold, and fog and polished silver.
