Functionality relies on proximity sensing, allowing the vehicle to unlock automatically as the driver approaches and secure itself upon departure. For security, these digital keys allow for remote suspension or deletion if a device is lost or stolen, and users can share access with others. While GM notes that similar digital key features are arriving for Apple and Google platforms, the current Samsung implementation requires specific hardware, ranging from the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra to the latest S26 and Z Fold series.
