Nvidia recalibrates DLSS 5 for Hogwarts Legacy debut

After months of criticism regarding uncanny facial distortions, Nvidia is rolling out a refined version of DLSS 5 for its upcoming integration into Hogwarts Legacy. The updated neural rendering system moves away from aggressive aesthetic alterations, opting instead for a more restrained visual profile that avoids the previous generation's controversial character transformations.

The technical pivot follows widespread backlash after initial demonstrations showed teenage characters appearing decades older due to heavy-handed AI processing. New comparison screenshots reveal that the upcoming version, arriving November 5th, prioritizes subtlety. Environmental textures and facial features now mirror the understated approach seen in NBA 2K27, confirming that developers retain granular artistic control over how the technology renders assets.

Beyond visual tweaks, Nvidia is optimizing the underlying neural architecture. An October update for the system aims to double performance on RTX 50-series GPUs and RTX Spark laptops. According to Andrew Burnes, this iteration reduces the model's footprint by 24 percent to approximately 118 million parameters, while cutting 4K VRAM consumption by 20 percent. This optimized model debuts in NBA 2K27 on October 16th and will serve as the default standard for future titles. Additionally, a new Nvidia app beta introduces a performance mode designed to accelerate Frame Generation on both 40- and 50-series hardware.
