Apple Updates HomePod Mini With S10 Chip and New Colors

Priced at $149, the second-generation HomePod Mini arrives with an upgraded S10 processor and a refreshed aesthetic palette. While the hardware footprint remains largely unchanged from the original, Apple is positioning the compact speaker as a centerpiece for its expanding smart home ecosystem, with preorders opening today.

The updated speaker introduces a visual synchronization feature that adjusts the LED glow to match the dominant colors of album artwork. Beneath the fabric mesh, the S10 chip provides the necessary overhead for future Siri AI integrations, which Apple expects to deliver via software updates. Beyond the internal silicon, the device now functions as a default output for Mac computers, bridging the gap between desktop audio and home automation.

Apple has overhauled the color lineup, introducing distinct pink and green versions alongside a modified shade of blue. These join the standard black and white models, designed to coordinate with the current iMac range. The device is launching alongside the new HomeView smart display and a broader suite of home hardware, with shipping scheduled to commence on October 30th.
