The transaction is slated to close next year, bringing the U.K.-based startup under the Guidewire umbrella. Founded in 2017, Hyperexponential has built a platform used by nearly 600 insurers across 40 countries to refine pricing and analytical workflows. By embedding these AI capabilities, Guidewire aims to shift the role of human underwriters toward a collaborative model where software handles high-volume analysis while professionals manage critical judgment calls.
For the startup’s backers, including Andreessen Horowitz and Battery Ventures, the exit represents a substantial return on the roughly $90 million invested since the company’s inception. The deal structure includes $400 million in performance-based earnouts, underscoring the high stakes Guidewire places on the future of machine-driven insurance risk assessment.
