Chrome Integrates Gmail Data to Automate Form Filling

Google is transforming its browser autofill into a proactive assistant by tethering it to your inbox. Starting this week, Chrome will scan Gmail messages to surface specific details—like flight confirmation numbers, tracking IDs, or membership codes—and suggest them directly within online forms to eliminate manual data entry.

This capability functions as an extension of Google’s Personal Intelligence suite, bridging the gap between stored emails and the browser’s interface. By pulling information from your correspondence, the tool simplifies tasks that typically require toggling between tabs, such as retrieving a shipping number or a saved address. The update mirrors the convenience of Apple’s long-standing verification code detection, which automatically extracts text-based credentials for one-tap entry.

Privacy remains a point of focus for the rollout, with Google emphasizing that sensitive data is encrypted and the feature is entirely opt-in. Users retain control over these permissions through the Chrome settings menu. The update is currently deploying to desktop users in the United States, alongside the mobile versions of Gemini on iOS and Android.
