The integration allows J Stern & Co to maintain its existing Zurich footprint while establishing a significant presence in Geneva at the former bvo capital offices. Managing partners Cédric Coignard and Laurent Pallanca will join the firm, bringing their expertise in concentrated global equity investing to the group’s existing portfolio, which includes the World Stars Global Equity Fund and the Emerging Market Debt Stars Fund. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the firm previously estimated the move would push its total assets under management beyond $2.8 billion.
This acquisition marks the latest chapter for a business rooted in a 200-year history. Tracing its origins to a 19th-century wine merchant family that pivoted to banking in 1805, the Stern dynasty eventually sold its Banque Stern entity to Swiss Bank Corporation in 1988 before relaunching as an independent asset manager in London in 2012. Today, the firm operates across London, New York, Zurich, and Malta, continuing the family’s legacy of active, quality-focused stock picking.
