Squarespace cuts 300 jobs to streamline operations

Squarespace is cutting 19 percent of its workforce, resulting in the departure of approximately 300 employees. The website-building platform described the reduction as a strategic effort to simplify internal operations and sharpen its focus, aiming to accelerate momentum ahead of the company’s next phase of growth.

Spokesperson Jeff Seedman confirmed the layoffs, noting that the firm is providing departing staff with 16 weeks of base pay. Affected workers will also retain healthcare benefits through May 2027. These organizational changes arrive shortly after private equity firm Permira finalized its acquisition of the company earlier this year. The platform has spent the last two years aggressively integrating generative AI into its service suite, most notably through the launch of its Blueprint AI tool, which automates website construction and content generation tasks.
