Apple Struggles to Meet Extraordinary Demand for iPhone Duo

Shipping estimates for the iPhone Duo are sliding into the next calendar year, as Apple admits it cannot currently forecast when supply will catch up with consumer appetite. During Monday’s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings call, company leadership confirmed the device remains constrained despite an aggressive manufacturing ramp-up.

Apple Struggles to Meet Extraordinary Demand for iPhone Duo

Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan addressed the bottlenecks directly, noting that while the production process is progressing, the gap between supply and demand remains difficult to close. The situation has become severe enough that carriers like Verizon are reportedly issuing gift cards to customers frustrated by the extended wait times.

This supply chain friction marks a rare stumble for a company famed for its logistical precision. Beyond the assembly hurdles, Apple is contending with a broader industry trend: the AI sector’s voracious appetite for memory chips has inflated component costs across the hardware market. Khan acknowledged that the company has reluctantly raised prices on several products to offset these rising expenses. To bolster production capacity, Apple is deepening its partnership with titanium supplier Perryman, aiming to secure the materials necessary to accelerate the delivery of the foldable device to its backlog of waiting customers.
