BNP Paribas Wealth Management Targets German Expansion

Following the acquisition of HSBC Private Bank’s German operations, BNP Paribas Wealth Management is positioning itself for further growth in Europe’s largest economy. CEO Vincent Lecomte aims to leverage the firm’s expanded footprint, which now manages 50 billion euros in assets, to capture the growing wealth of German SMEs and family-led enterprises.

BNP Paribas Wealth Management Targets German Expansion

The integration of HSBC’s former business has propelled BNP Paribas to the rank of fourth-largest private bank in Germany. Operating across 10 cities, including Frankfurt, Berlin, and Munich, the firm is prioritizing local entrepreneurs as its primary growth engine. Lecomte describes the recent consolidation as a foundational step rather than an end goal, signaling that further investment in the region is imminent.

Beyond Germany, the firm maintains a focus on its core European markets of France and Italy, with specific interest in the northern Italian region. Simultaneously, the bank is looking toward Asia, which now represents over 20 percent of its total assets under management. With 2026 marking a record year in the region, the company is scaling operations in Taiwan and Thailand. Chief Investment Officer Edmund Shing reinforces this geographic strategy, maintaining an overweight position on Japanese equities and tech-driven emerging markets, including South Korea and Poland, as the firm prepares its long-term 2030 roadmap.
