The direct connection feature, dubbed cloud connect, bypasses the standard Bluetooth handshake by linking the Nano controller straight to the cloud server running the game. According to the Xbox team, this architecture aims to minimize input latency, providing a more fluid experience for players. Starting today, this functionality enters a US-only preview phase, requiring users to configure their hardware via the Xbox Accessories app on PC or the Xbox beta app for Android.
Simultaneously, Microsoft is rolling out a mobile-as-controller option for smart TV users outside the United States. This tool allows players to access the Xbox Cloud Gaming library directly through a browser or app without needing a dedicated physical controller. Both features remain in an active testing cycle, with the company noting that game support and device compatibility may be restricted while these services undergo refinement in the beta environment.
