Growth is being fueled by the expansion of community-focused features, which Meta is moving out of beta testing. These digital spaces, which allow users to organize around specific topics, will now feature distinct visual identities and a centralized hub within the application menu. While the company currently curates the selection of active communities—numbering over 200 as of December—Threads executive Connor Hayes indicated that the ability for users to self-create communities may arrive within the next year.
Alongside community updates, the platform is refining how users interact with their feeds. After introducing the public “Dear Algo” tool earlier this year, Meta is rolling out “Your Algo,” a private mechanism for users to dictate their content preferences. This feature is currently launching in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, giving users direct input into the algorithm’s decision-making process.
