Verizon Launches Simplicity Plan to Streamline Wireless Billing

The $30 entry point for new subscribers requires enabling autopay and utilizing a carrier-switch discount. Existing customers face a higher starting rate of $45 per month. To waive the standard $40 activation and upgrade fees, users must enroll in the company’s new loyalty program via the My Verizon app. This program introduces 'Verizon Dollars,' providing 3 percent cash back on monthly bills, alongside access to events and giveaways under the 'Verizon Shine' benefit.

Simplicity subscribers gain access to Verizon’s 5G ultrawideband network, 10GB of mobile hotspot data, and roaming capabilities in Canada and Mexico. The plan also supports satellite texting for compatible devices. CEO Dan Schulman, who took the helm last year, described the move as a push to simplify a sector often bogged down by convoluted rewards and unnecessary forced upgrades. Beyond the standalone wireless option, the carrier is introducing a $70-per-month bundle that pairs unlimited 5G connectivity with home internet service.
