Google is rebranding a suite of its advanced mobile AI tools as Gemini Intelligence, a move designed to bundle existing capabilities specifically for high-end devices like the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Ben Greenwood, Google’s director of Android experiences, confirmed that these features will prioritize premium hardware, positioning the AI as a core component of the Android interface rather than just an optional app.
The most significant shift involves task automation, which currently allows Gemini to interact with a limited selection of food delivery and rideshare services. Google plans to expand this functionality to a broader array of applications soon. Furthermore, the assistant is gaining multimodality, enabling it to process screenshots and photos alongside standard voice and text inputs to guide its actions. These changes arrive as Google seeks to embed Gemini directly into Chrome and system-level autofill suggestions.
