Leica Unveils SL3-P Hybrid Camera with 44MP Sensor

The SL3-P features a 44-megapixel full-frame back-side illuminated sensor, offering a middle ground between the 24-megapixel SL3-S and the 60-megapixel SL3. Despite the mid-range resolution, the device retains the original SL3’s 8K video capabilities. Leica claims the updated hybrid autofocus system provides superior tracking performance compared to previous iterations in the series, maintaining 14 stops of dynamic range even while firing at burst rates of up to 40 frames per second.

Physically, the camera includes a 3.2-inch tilting LCD display, though it lacks a front-facing flip mechanism. The body-only price of $6,690 positions it between the current $5,665 SL3-S and the $7,485 SL3. As with all L-mount system cameras, potential buyers should factor in additional lens costs. The SL3-P is available immediately through authorized dealers and Leica storefronts.
