Since its 2021 launch, the New York-based startup has processed samples for over 100,000 patients, utilizing its proprietary mNGS sequencing to identify novel bacterial vaginosis subtypes and uncatalogued genomes. CEO Priyanka Jain argues that current AI models struggle with female health precisely because they are trained on datasets that ignore female biology. By pairing biological data at scale with their newly launched EvvyAI assistant, the company intends to build a feedback loop that connects symptoms, interventions, and long-term health outcomes.
Evvy is now expanding its focus beyond vaginal health into the fertility sector, initiating studies to link microbiome data to IVF success rates, preterm birth, and recurrent pregnancy loss. The goal is to move the industry away from the "unexplained" diagnoses that often plague women’s healthcare. Looking ahead, Jain envisions a non-invasive, at-home diagnostic tool that functions as a modern evolution of the Pap smear, capable of tracking conditions ranging from endometriosis to HPV progression.
