Prismm Digitizes Estate Planning to Stem Bank Asset Leakage

When a bank customer passes away, their heirs frequently move inherited assets to competing institutions, resulting in billions of dollars in lost deposits annually. Prismm, a startup debuting at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, aims to solve this by embedding beneficiary and estate management directly into the core infrastructure of financial institutions.

Prismm Digitizes Estate Planning to Stem Bank Asset Leakage

Founded in 2020 by sisters Martha Underwood and Shella Sylla, the company addresses the manual, high-friction processes that currently plague wealth transitions. The platform allows account holders to designate family members for access to documents and assets ahead of time. By integrating with bank systems, Prismm enables remote, digital transfers that bypass the traditional, labor-intensive paperwork that often drives families to close accounts.

Two core products drive the offering: Prismm Designate, which simplifies beneficiary updates, and Prismm Anchor, a secure repository for accounts and assets accessible through existing bank portals. A third tool, Prismm Continuity, is in development to provide guided, step-by-step support for bank staff and grieving families. By digitizing these touchpoints, the company aims to help banks maintain relationships with the next generation of clients rather than losing them during the emotional and logistical chaos of an estate settlement.
