Twelve South adds a display to its latest AirFly wireless dongle

Navigating the cryptic blink patterns of Bluetooth adapters is ending, as Twelve South launches the AirFly View. The new dongle features an integrated screen that guides users through the pairing process in 24 languages, replacing guesswork with text-based instructions for travelers connecting headphones to non-Bluetooth devices like airplane entertainment systems.

Priced at $79.99, the device represents a premium tier in the company’s lineup. Beyond simplifying connections, the screen provides a battery indicator for its 16-hour capacity and identifies the specific pair of headphones currently linked to the dongle. This clarity helps users manage multiple sets of earbuds in a shared environment, such as a family traveling together.

Functionally, the unit supports audio streaming to two pairs of headphones simultaneously. Looking ahead, Twelve South has integrated support for Auracast broadcast audio. While this hardware capability positions the dongle for future industry standards, its full utility remains tied to the broader adoption of Auracast technology across consumer headphones, which currently remains limited.
