The base models for the new lineup start at $2,899 for the 14-inch version and $3,399 for the 16-inch variant. However, opting for the M5 Max chip with an 18-core CPU and 40-core GPU, paired with 128GB of memory and a nano-texture display, pushes the costs into five-figure territory. The 128GB memory upgrade contributes an additional $2,000 to the final bill.
This pricing structure marks a significant increase over earlier iterations. Last year, a fully maxed-out 16-inch MacBook Pro topped out at $10,149. Even if a user settles for an 8TB storage configuration, the total price reaches $10,549, still outpacing the previous generation’s maximum. The steep escalation is driven by the 16TB storage tier, a component currently affected by broader industry supply constraints.
