Bluesky posts and likes hit 2026 highs on Election Night

Bluesky recorded its busiest day of 2026 on U.S. midterm Election Night, as election results came in and activity rose across posts, likes and link clicks. The surge nearly matched the platform’s daily likes record, set in November 2024.

Bluesky posts and likes hit 2026 highs on Election Night

Chief Operating Officer Rose Wang told TechCrunch that usage peaked between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. PT. Compared with the previous 30-day averages, daily posts rose 30% and likes climbed 70%; clicks on links increased 20%. CEO Toni Schneider said posts and likes doubled during the elections and described a wave of new users joining and former users returning.

Open-source data showed Bluesky logged 44 million likes, 4.8 million posts and 2 million new follows on November 4. The likes total came close to the platform’s record of 45 million in one day, set in November 2024. Data traffic also jumped to as much as 35.8 GB/s, 200% above usual levels.

Bluesky is sometimes called “Twitter for the left,” reflecting the perceived political lean of its user base. The article links that profile to a period of concentrated user growth after Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election, and says users were active during a night of major Democratic victories.
