Wonder confidentially files for IPO after rapid expansion

Wonder has confidentially filed for an initial public offering, the food technology company announced Thursday, bringing it closer to a public listing after years of fundraising, acquisitions and expansion. It has not disclosed how many shares it plans to offer or the expected price range.

Wonder confidentially files for IPO after rapid expansion

Founded in 2018 by Marc Lore, Wonder has grown beyond a traditional food delivery service. It runs food hall-style locations where customers can order from multiple restaurant brands on one platform, with Wonder handling preparation, delivery, pickup and dine-in service.

The IPO filing follows a July funding round of more than $650 million that valued the company at around $9 billion. Investors include Accel, GV, AllianceBernstein and ARK Invest. Lore, who previously founded Jet.com and Diapers.com, has previously discussed plans to take Wonder public.

Wonder has also pursued expansion through acquisitions, buying Blue Apron, Grubhub, Tastemade and kitchen robotics company Spyce. The company has announced plans to open more than 100 locations in Texas by the end of 2027. Its Wonder Create platform, meanwhile, uses AI to help food entrepreneurs and social media influencers develop food concepts, restaurant brands and menu items, with the company saying it can launch brands in less than a minute.

A $425 million partnership with DoorDash is intended to expand Wonder’s campus dining business, which operates at 450 colleges and universities and other locations. A public-market debut would place Wonder in a competitive food delivery sector that includes established rivals DoorDash and Uber Eats.
