Obeid, scheduled to begin her tenure at the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi on August 31, draws on over ten years at the regulator. Her expertise spans retail and wholesale banking, alongside high-profile work in financial crime, artificial intelligence, and consumer outcomes.
These additions integrate into a broader diplomatic network that already includes the FCA’s presence in Washington DC, Brussels, and Singapore. Ruairí O’Connell, the FCA’s director of international affairs, noted that the expansion is intended to advance UK policy interests and enhance collaboration with counterparts in both India and the Gulf region. By embedding these specialists directly within diplomatic missions, the regulator aims to facilitate a more responsive approach to the complexities of the global financial sector.
